Erin O'Brien with Case Counseling

About Erin

Hello! My name is Erin O’Brien and I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker. I’m pursuing my clinical licensure under the supervision of Robin Case, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU

I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Texas Tech University in 2003 and a Master of Social Work degree from Baylor University in 2008. After working in the field of social work for several years, I stayed at home with my kids for a season before beginning to pursue my clinical licensure. While I was so grateful for my time at home, it highlighted my own struggle with anxiety and depression. My journey from feeling trapped by my fears to being empowered to cope and live a bolder life has given me a passion for walking alongside others and giving them tools to navigate their own journey.

In addition to anxiety and depression, I have experience in the areas of trauma and addiction. I also really love working with families, helping them to foster positive relationships with each other and equipping them with skills for better communication and connection.

My approach is supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental. I believe every person has strengths, and I help people discover their strengths to find freedom and live the life they desire.

I am a Christ follower and if this aligns with your belief system, I can integrate biblical principles into the therapeutic process. With that said, I work with people from all different walks of life, and I honor your beliefs and love learning more about how you experience the world.

I use a combination of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Person Centered, Solution Focused, and Attachment theories in my approach. EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy} principles inform my practice with couples, and I am a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist.

Therapy works best when there is a connected and cooperative relationship between a client and a therapist, and it can be a process to find a therapist that’s a good fit. To that end, I’m happy to connect by phone for you to ask questions or learn more about me and my approach.
